New Line Learning Federation
The New Line Learning Federation in Kent runs two Academies, New Line Learning and Cornwallis. At the Cornwallis Academy, Impleo have embedded an 80" interactive glass surface into the existing wall of their newly built Plaza 3 learning space. The touch screen glass wall is the first of its kind in an educational establishment in the UK.

Alan Enfield, New Line Learning Federation Vice Principal explains,
Impleo have been working with us to help further our strategy for plaza based learning and as part of this we were looking to bring a more interactive experience into our learning plaza environment. We have piloted two 70" Samsung LCD touch screens and wanted to see if it was possible to embed this type of technology into the fabric of the room for our new builds. We see it as a non-intrusive surface allowing flexible learning and teaching in the delivery of our new curriculum.
As a development of the 70" touch screens, Impleo installed a glass wall that uses a short throw rear projection system (housed in a cupboard) which has a multi-touch facility. We have only just begun to use the touch surface but it has been well received by all who use the plaza and it was a huge 'wow' factor at our recent open evening for prospective pupils. Using software such as Google earth has never been so interactive and 'Minority Report' like.
As with the rest of the equipment in the plaza it is easy for staff to use. We plug laptops and computers in directly to the screen for touch interactive use and when this is not required the glass wall simply becomes an additional output screen for everyone to view as part of our comprehensive multimedia system in the plaza.
